DOHA, 10th December, 2022 (WAM) - Morocco have advanced to the FIFA World Cup semi-finals, becoming the first African and Arab nation to do so after a historically deserved 1-0 victory over Portugal.
Youssef En-Nesyri was the injury-hit Atlas Lions' hero, scoring a spectacular first-half header to extend the team's fairytale run at Qatar 2022.
At this World Cup, goals will be scored that surpass En- Nesyri's. However, there probably won't be another one scored from a more impressive leap.
Morocco are the fourth African country, after Cameroon, Senegal, and Ghana, to advance to the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup. But up until now, no one from the same continent have advanced to the final four.
The Atlas Lions are now awaiting the winner of tonight's Anglo-Franco clash on Wednesday.
